Do you already know the swallow-tailed bee-eater?

It breeds in savannah woodlands of sub-Saharan Africa. It is partially migratory, moving in response to rainfall patterns. This species, like other bee-eaters, is a richly coloured, slender bird.

It can reach a length of 20–22 cm.

This attractive bird is readily approached. Just as the name suggests, bee-eaters predominantly eatinsects, especially bees, wasps and hornets, which are caught in the air by sorties from an open perch.

Visit us the upcoming weekend and enjoy the highest temperature of 32°C ☀

We have wonderful guests . . .

"[...] I always wanted to come back and share the beauty and style of this Lodge with my wife and children. This year in June we finally made it and it was like coming home. My kids and wife loved the room and facilities and the outstanding view. Some of the staff was still there, the last film was in 2008, and we had tears in the eyes, seeing each other again. it was FAMILY. The Ladies in our family are vegetarian and the cock produced some delicious meals for them, my son was eager to try the Oryx Steak and loved it. [...]
PS: And a brand new Mountain Bike, wow, must admit it slightly killed me after the wonderful dinner and breakfast, a new possibility to see the animals, great!"

Untamed Wilderness

Only when the last of the Animals Horns, Tusks, Skin and Bones are sold, will Mankind realize that Money can never buy back our Wildlife!

The young family, Martin & Zissy Frommhagen with their daughter Anneke from Germany, chose to take part in our White Rhino Program.

A selected animal was found to be the solution for a prosperous breeding herd. The White Rhino Bull was introduced at the crack of dawn on the 8th of August 2002. Trained trackers followed his path to monitor his condition and behavior. It was found, that the bull, originating from the famous Ongava Ranch (south of the Etosha Pan), was doing extremely well.

Today he roams together with a female cow and her calf and the signs are positive, that soon another unique creature will catch the sight of light.

GocheGanas today announced that it has received a TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence award. The accolade, which honours hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide.  Establishments awarded the Certificate of Excellence are located all over the world and represent the upper echelon of businesses listed on the website.

When selecting Certificate of Excellence winners, TripAdvisor uses a proprietary algorithm to determine the honorees that takes into account reviews ratings.  Businesses must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, volume and recency of reviews. Additional criteria include a business’ tenure and popularity ranking on the site.

“Winning the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence is a true source of pride for the entire team at GocheGanas and we’d like to thank all of our past guests who took the time to complete a review on TripAdvisor,” said Udo Stritter, Managing Director at GocheGanas. “There is no greater seal of approval than being recognised by one’s customers. With the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence based on customer reviews, the accolade is a remarkable vote of confidence to our business and our continued commitment to excellence.”

“TripAdvisor is pleased to honour exceptional hospitality businesses for consistent excellence,” said Marc Charron, President of TripAdvisor for Business. “The Certificate of Excellence award gives top performing establishments around the world the recognition they deserve, based on feedback from those who matter most – their customers. From Australia to Zimbabwe, we want to applaud exceptional hospitality businesses for offering TripAdvisor travellers a great customer experience.”

Thank you to all of those that have visited GocheGanas and have taken the time to review our establishment on TripAdvisor. We truly appreciate your contribution.

10 Years GocheGanas Nature Reserve and Wellness Village

The vision of the family STRITTER, to create a unique
destination, started during the early 80’s.
For many years the family travelled though the contrast rich Namibia, searching for the perfect place. Only in 1997 the “Place of Camel-Thorns, abounding with Candle-Pod-Acacias” was found:
It took many years and a lot of effort to establish the 6000 hectare Nature Reserve. Subsequently the lodge was planned and the doors opened in February 2004.

A vision started to materialize . . .

. . . and it wasn’t all that easy finding the right spot in the land of contrasts.

Life affords no higher pleasure than that of surmounting difficulties, passing from one step of success to another, forming new wishes and seeing them gratified.

Our business and family is not a result but a constant reminder why we must celebrate this success we've built out of passion.

Thank you everybody for celebrating our anniversary and making it so memorable.
